The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has officially proclaimed the historic winners of the first-ever regular Bangsamoro Parliament Elections, concluding the region's seven-year interim transition period. The landmark regional polls took place across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on September 14, 2026.

Election Irregularities and Security Concerns

While hailed as a massive milestone for self-governance, the election faced notable operational and security challenges. COMELEC placed several areas under strict monitoring due to election-related conflicts, and reports of irregularities emerged, including instances of pre-shaded ballots intercepted by authorities in Basilan. Despite these hurdles, voter turnout remained resilient, hovering around 80 percent across the region.

Hung Parliament: No Single Party Majority in Party-List Race

The 40 seats reserved for regional political parties were distributed via proportional representation, resulting in a hung parliament where no single group secured the 41-seat absolute majority. Analysts note that upcoming coalition-building will dictate who becomes the next Chief Minister.
