HISTORY
LOGO FOUNDATION
In December 2021, the foundation for Miranda News Philippines was laid with a simple creative spark: the "New Year Rocket" logo concept. Designed by our founder, Ken Klark L. Flores—who was just 14 years old at the time—this early vision featured four geometric triangles: a prominent yellow base paired with adaptable blue, white, and red shapes. While the official media platform had not yet been established, this distinct design ultimately became our visual identity.
CONCEPTUALIZATION
April 2022: Four months after scrapping a New Year logo project, 15-year-old founder Ken Klark L. Flores conceptualized a local news platform focused on Barangay Fatima, General Santos City, initially named Balitang Fatimanian.
August 11, 2022: Inspired by his admiration for the actress ThalĂa—whom he began following in 2020 after watching Marimar on TV5—Ken Klark integrated her maternal surname into the project, finalizing the name as Balitang Miranda.
August 18, 2022: Balitang Miranda printed its very first test run (Volume 1, Issue 1) using Microsoft Publisher.
THE DEBUT
August 23, 2022: The publication officially made its digital maiden debut. The previously scrapped New Year rocket logo was revived and adopted as the official news identity, introducing its original tagline: "The News and Opinion Authority in SOCCSKSARGEN." This official debut included the simultaneous release of Issue 2 (delayed from August 21), Issue 3, and Issue 4 (released ahead of schedule for August 24). The layouts were converted from Microsoft Publisher to PDF, saved as images, and shared publicly on the founder's personal profile.
The publication released a total of eight issues. Notably, Volume 1, Issue 6 pulled double duty as an academic school project. The original run concluded on November 22, 2022, with its final official release. This milestone marked the end of the print-style era and set the stage for the publication's evolution into Dynamic Bulletins.
Establishment: On December 2, 2022, the platform underwent a strategic rebranding, transitioning from Balitang Miranda—its original identity utilizing its native Filipino name—to Miranda News Philippines. The launch established its primary digital presence as a Facebook Page, aiming to bridge local community stories with immediate online news distribution.
From January 14, 2023, through October 6, 2023, the outlet dedicated comprehensive, consistent coverage to the events, student achievements, and institutional updates of Fatima National High School, anchoring its roots firmly in local community reporting.
The latter half of 2023 solidified the platform's role as a vital source for breaking crisis information through three major seismic events:
October 4, 2023 (Sarangani Islands): Marked the outlet's very first dedicated disaster coverage initiative following a powerful Magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck the Sarangani Islands region.
November 17, 2023 (Sarangani Bay): Demonstrated critical emergency broadcasting capabilities when a devastating Magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit Sarangani Bay, resulting widespread regional blackout, Miranda News Philippines consistently pushed out updated information at 7:00 PM when the electricity restored.
December 2, 2023 (Surigao Del Sur): The platform experienced a massive engagement breakthrough during the Magnitude 7.4 earthquake along the Philippine Trench near Surigao del Sur. Deploying its first-ever official "Flash Report" format, the publication went viral—securing thousands of reactions, over 900 comments, and hundreds of shares, cementing its status as a trusted breaking news source.
April 2024: Expanded broadcasting scope by delivering live international breaking news coverage of the Magnitude 7.4 Taiwan Earthquake.
April 2024: Provided comprehensive global updates on the Total Solar Eclipse across the Americas.
2025: Milestone Broadcasts and Digital Launch
May 2025: Launched the major election special “ANG HATOL NG PAGPAPASYA 2025” to deliver real-time, in-depth tracking of the 2025 Philippine Midterm Elections.
June 2025: Upgraded production aesthetics by implementing advanced chroma key lower-third graphics into the daily broadcast workflow.
July 30, 2025: Reported on the Magnitude 8.8 Kamchatka Earthquake as part of its growing international crisis coverage portfolio. It made Expanded its digital footprint by officially launching the Miranda News Philippines YouTube Channel, anchoring its growth strategy around high-engagement video shorts.
For two years, beginning in April 2024, Miranda News Philippines operated under the defining principle: "Ang Balitang Impormasyon ay Boses ng Malayang Mamamayang Pilipino" (Informative News is the Voice of the Free Filipino Citizen). This tagline underscored the platform's commitment to civic journalism and the empowerment of the domestic audience.
Technological Trial (2024–2026)
By March 2026, amid the global shift toward automated media production, the outlet began actively testing Artificial Intelligence capabilities using the Gemini model through Google AI Mode. Deployed primarily to optimize the generation of daily news bulletins, the integration was paired with strict manual editorial protocols to guarantee total factual accuracy and safeguard journalistic integrity.
Concurrently, to address the industry-wide challenge of AI-generated deepfakes and altered video content, Miranda News Philippines maintained a distinct visual verification standard. The platform opted to pair Chroma Key lower-third graphics directly with raw field videos, streamlining the post-production workflow while ensuring audiences received authentic, unmanipulated documentation of events.
2026 Consolidation Era
On April 5, 2026, the digital outlet underwent a significant structural transformation, officially becoming part of the newly established Miranda Mass Media Management. Serving as a parental media blog and overarching management network, the new entity consolidates and directs operations across multiple specialized digital platforms, including: Miranda News Regional, Aksyon Apologia, Aksyon Apologia News Bulletin, and Digital Forulogue
"Una Sa Aksyon Balita": A Historical Media Synthesis
Coinciding with Easter Sunday on April 5, 2026, the transition was marked by the launch of a streamlined, high-impact tagline: "Una Sa Aksyon Balita" (First in Action News).
The launch date and phrasing intentionally paid homage to a milestone in Philippine television history—the 16th anniversary of News5’s flagship newscast Aksyon, which originally premiered on TV5 on April 5, 2010.
Beyond celebrating Aksyon’s legacy, the new slogan acts as a deliberate historical synthesis of iconic catchphrases from the golden eras of Philippine television and radio broadcasting. It merges two major programming heritages:
The "Una sa Balita" (First in News) Lineage: Pulling inspiration from the print tabloid Abante; ABS-CBN Regional’s TV Patrol Panay (known as TV Patrol Iloilo until 2011); DZMM Radyo Patrol 630’s legacy slogan "Una Sa Balita, Una Sa Public Service"; and GMA Davao’s morning program Una Ka Bai.
The "Aksyon Balita" (Action News) Lineage: Drawing from the late-90s ABS-CBN late-night newscast Pulso: Aksyon Balita; RPN 9’s NewsWatch Aksyon Balita; and the provincial AM radio network Aksyon Radyo, operated by the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) Media Group.
By anchoring its brand identity in these historic broadcasting benchmarks, Miranda News Philippines aims to position itself as a modern digital torchbearer of the fast-paced, public-service-driven journalism that defined its predecessors.
Miranda News Philippines launched a Blogspot Website on the same day.
