Fuel Tanker Rams Ancestral House in Makato, Aklan; Brake Failure Suspected
An oil tanker truck crashed into an ancestral residential structure currently under renovation in Poblacion, Makato, at approximately 7:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 21.
The truck, labeled Halcon Gas, was traveling from the direction of Caticlan when it reportedly lost its brakes while navigating a curved section of the national highway. The impact caused severe damage to the front of the concrete house, including a partially crushed exterior and significant cracks in the interior walls.
CCTV footage captured by Darwin Lachica shows the truck approaching the impact zone at speed, a sight that visibly shocked bystanders near the roadside.
Authorities confirmed that the 30-year-old driver sustained minor leg injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. Fortunately, no one was inside the house at the time of the accident, and the truck's 18-year-old helper was reported unharmed.
