Big Fuel Price Hike Set for September 8 After Brief Rollback

Philippine motorists face a steep increase in pump prices this week as oil companies implement a major price hike effective Tuesday, September 8, 2026. According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the price adjustments per liter are as follows: 

Gasoline (All grades including RON 91, 95, and 97): ₱4.69 increase

Diesel and Diesel Plus: ₱5.18 increase

Kerosene: ₱5.58 increase 

Energy officials and industry leaders attribute the sharp upward trend to heightened volatility in the global oil market. Renewed hostilities and military exchanges between the U.S. and Iran have severely impacted shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, tightening global supply and driving up international crude prices.
