At 18th BRICS Summit, Marcos Champions ASEAN's Vision for Growth and Stability

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. amplified Southeast Asia's global voice on Sunday during the 18th BRICS Summit held at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Center. 

Attending the summit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Marcos fulfilled a "two-fold mission": representing the 11-member bloc as the 2026 ASEAN Chair and further strengthening the Philippines-India strategic partnership.

Addressing the bloc's Open Session, Marcos highlighted ASEAN’s core 2026 themes—Peace and Security Anchors, Prosperity Corridors, and People Empowerment. He noted that these priorities align closely with India's BRICS themes of resilience, innovation, and sustainability.

Beyond the multilateral sessions, Marcos held bilateral talks with Modi to review their nations' 2025–2029 plan of action and met with Indian business leaders to pitch digital technology and manufacturing investments in the Philippines
