SEPTEMBER 14 DECLARED SPECIAL NON-WORKING DAY IN BARMM

NEWS | Malacañang has declared Monday, September 14, 2026, as a special non-working holiday in the entire Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). This is to pave the way for the region’s first regular parliamentary elections.

The order was formally issued under Proclamation No. 1395 signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, in the authority of the President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

According to the proclamation, the declaration aims to provide ample opportunity for the people of the Bangsamoro to actively participate and exercise their right to vote in the historic elections. The date of the elections was set pursuant to Republic Act No. 12317 which amended the Bangsamoro Organic Law.
