Peralta Hauls 5 Medals in Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championships

Filipina weightlifter Jhodie Peralta spearheaded a spectacular medal surge for Team Philippines, capturing three gold and two silver medals in the women’s 53kg category at the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Coached by Allen Diaz, the Zamboanga City native dominated across two structural divisions:

• Youth Division: Swept the snatch with an 86kg hoist, secured silver in the clean and jerk at 102kg, and commanded the overall total with a top-ranking 188kg.
• Junior Division: Locked down another gold in the snatch (86kg) and claimed the overall total silver at 188kg.

This performance builds on Peralta's double-silver finish at July's IWF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia. Her success elevated the Philippines' total haul to 26 medals alongside local standouts like Alexsandra Ann Diaz and Althea Bacaro.

Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) president Monico Puentevella hailed the young squad's performance, noting their strong potential for future Olympic contention.
