Vocal Political Vlogger Shot Dead, Partner Wounded in Caloocan Home Invasion

A vocal political vlogger was shot and killed, while her live-in partner survived with severe injuries, after unidentified gunmen stormed their residence early Friday morning, July 17, 2026.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the fatality as 24-year-old Alicia Lipata, widely known online as "Mima Alicia." Her partner, 25-year-old alias "Tapong," is currently recovering from gunshot wounds at the Camarin Doctors Hospital.

The Midnight Attack

According to police investigators from the Northern Police District (NPD), the incident occurred at approximately 3:06 a.m. inside the victims' rented home in Tierra Nova Subdivision, Barangay 171, Bagumbong, North Caloocan.

Two armed men reportedly forced entry into the house and immediately opened fire on the couple. Lipata, despite sustaining gunshot wounds, managed to flee the house to seek help. However, she collapsed and was found dead on the asphalt road outside the property.

The suspects quickly escaped the subdivision aboard a getaway motorcycle. Responding emergency units rushed Lipata's wounded partner to the hospital, where he remains under tight medical security.

Spotlight on Vlogging Motive

Lipata was an active and polarizing figure in the local digital landscape, recognized for creating content focused on Philippine politics. In online circles, her broadcasts were known for expressing strong anti-Duterte views while explicitly supporting the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Due to the nature of her content, authorities are heavily leaning toward her political commentary as a primary angle for the assassination.

Special Task Force Activated

The NPD has officially ordered the activation of Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) "MIMA" to spearhead the investigation. Investigators are currently reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage around Tierra Nova Subdivision to track the suspects' entry and escape routes.

Forensic teams recovered several spent shell casings from the crime scene, which have been forwarded to the PNP Forensic Group for ballistic examination.

Local barangay officials and neighbors noted that the couple had been keeping a relatively low profile in the neighborhood before the targeted attack. Police have deployed personnel to secure the surviving partner as a vital witness in the ongoing murder case.
