SIARGAO MAKES HISTORY: CLOUD 9 ELEVATED TO ELITE WSL CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR FOR 2026

The world’s elite surfers are officially heading to the Philippines in 2026 for a historic milestone on the professional surfing circuit.

The World Surf League (WSL) officially announced that the iconic Cloud 9 wave in Siargao will serve as Stop No. 11 of the 2026 WSL Championship Tour. Dubbed the Philippines Pro, the prestigious event is scheduled to run from October 31 to November 10, 2026.

A Historic Sporting Milestone

The inclusion of Siargao marks the first time the country will host a top-tier Championship Tour event. Local and national agencies are mobilizing to support the massive undertaking. Officials from the following groups are finalizing preparations for the launch:

• Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)
• World Surf League (WSL)
• Department of Tourism (DOT)
• General Luna Local Government Unit (LGU)

Global Economic and Tourism Impact

Organizers expect the competition to be one of the largest international sporting events ever held in the country. The broadcast will showcase Siargao's world-class barrels to millions of global viewers, providing a massive boost to local tourism and eco-sports development.
