Section of Davao–Bukidnon Road Collapses Due to Heavy Rains; Road Slip Triggers Closure

A critical section of the Davao–Bukidnon Road in Brgy. Marilog Proper remains closed to heavy vehicles following a severe road slip triggered by continuous intense rainfall.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XI reported that the structural collapse occurred on the night of July 17 at Purok 39, Sitio Marahan. The incident prompted an immediate suspension of regular traffic to ensure public safety.

DPWH personnel are currently on-site conducting structural assessments and evaluation of the road's condition. The agency has not yet announced a timeline for the full reopening of the major highway.

While the primary road remains impassable for trucks and heavy vehicles, local authorities have opened a temporary alternative route exclusively for motorcycles and light vehicles. Affected motorists are directed to detour via the Davao–Bukidnon Road – Datu Ladayon – Katipunan – Campo Uno network.

Travelers are strongly advised to avoid the affected zone to prevent severe traffic congestion and to monitor official DPWH communications for subsequent updates.
