Sabrina Carpenter Granted Temporary Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker After Brazen Break-In Attempt

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has granted pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter a temporary restraining order (TRO) against a 31-year-old man who allegedly attempted to breach the security of her home, court documents revealed Monday.

The legal protection order, signed on June 1, 2026, requires the suspect, identified as William Applegate, to remain at least 100 yards away from the "Espresso" singer, her residence, her vehicle, and her workplace. The order also extends protection to Carpenter’s older sister, Sarah, and her sister’s boyfriend, both of whom reside at the property.

A Terrifying Series of Escalations

According to sworn declarations submitted to the court, the terrifying ordeal began on the afternoon of May 23, 2026. Applegate allegedly trespassed onto a neighbor's property to bypass Carpenter's secure perimeter fencing. Once on her grounds, he walked up to her front door and was captured on camera forcefully pushing down on the door handle in an attempt to enter the home.

When the door failed to open, Applegate rang the doorbell. When confronted by property security via the intercom, he falsely insisted that he personally knew the singer and that she was expecting him.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded swiftly to the scene and arrested Applegate on charges of criminal trespassing.

Suspect Returned Within 24 Hours

Despite his initial arrest, the harassment allegedly escalated the very next day. Court filings note that Applegate returned to the neighborhood less than 24 hours after being released, loitering in close proximity to Carpenter's home.

On May 25, 2026, Applegate was spotted near the residence for a third consecutive day, this time conducting what security detail described as deliberate vehicle surveillance on the property.
To secure the emergency protective order, Carpenter's legal team submitted extensive evidence to the court, including high-definition Ring doorbell camera footage that clearly showed the suspect trying to break into the house.

Upcoming Court Dates

Applegate is currently facing both civil and criminal legal consequences for the pattern of behavior:

June 17, 2026: A formal court hearing will take place to determine whether the temporary restraining order will be extended into a permanent injunction.

June 18, 2026: Applegate is scheduled to appear in criminal court to face misdemeanor trespassing charges stemming from his initial May 23 arrest.
