In a sudden turn of events for the local pageantry scene, Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) officially announced on Monday, June 29, 2026, the withdrawal of Binibini No. 36, Ivy Reyes Padilla, from the ongoing national competition.

Padilla, who proudly represented the province of Misamis Oriental, was widely deemed by critics and pageant enthusiasts as a formidable front-runner for one of the major titles. Her departure comes just days after capturing significant public attention during the preliminary rounds.

A Sudden Departure

According to the official statement released by BPCI via Instagram, Padilla voluntarily stepped down from the race due to undisclosed personal reasons. The organization noted that the candidate expressed she could no longer fulfill her run in the 2026 edition of the pageant.

"We fully respect her decision and stand in support of her during this time," the BPCI management said. "Out of respect for her privacy, we ask everyone to extend the same understanding and compassion as she navigates this time in her life."

The organization concluded its announcement by wishing Padilla strength, peace, and fulfillment, warmly reminding her that she will always remain a part of their community: "Once a Binibini, always a Binibini."

A Strong Pageant Campaign Cut Short

Padilla’s exit surprised many followers of the competition. During the Preliminary Evening Gown Competition, she gained heavy acclaim for wearing a custom, purple creation by renowned designer Mak Tumang. Pageant analysts, including veteran insider Tito Norman Tinio, had previously shortlisted her as a top contender for the coveted Binibining Pilipinas International crown, praising her polish, charm, and commanding stage presence.

Prior to her withdrawal, Padilla explicitly stated in media interviews that her custom wardrobe and presentation choices were designed to reflect "elegance, beauty, and authenticity" while showcasing her deep reverence for her Mindanaoan roots and the spirit of bayanihan.
