A shallow, tectonic Magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolted the province of Albay and surrounding areas at 9:57 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026.

According to data, the epicenter was located 15 kilometers southeast of Santo Domingo, Albay, with a shallow depth of focus at 9 kilometers. Due to the shallow nature of the earthquake, strong shaking was felt across multiple provinces. State seismologists warn that damage to infrastructure and aftershocks are expected.
