LANS DENOUNCES ONLINE MISOGYNY AND WOMEN-SHAMING

Rising content creator Louise Anne Nagal, popularly known online as "Lans," has taken a firm stand against online misogyny, strongly urging netizens to stop using her name to belittle, compare, or shame other women.

The veterinary medicine student, who recently gained viral traction for her engaging educational "fun fact" videos, released a statement addressing a growing social media trend where users—particularly men—weaponize her "wholesome" image to degrade other female creators.

Rejecting Conditional Respect

Nagal expressed deep discomfort over comments like "Gayahin niyo si LANS, karespe-respeto" (Be like LANS, she is respectable), which are used to attack women who choose different clothing or lifestyle content.

"hindi ko po ma-consider na achievement yung pagtaas ng followers kung may mga kababaihan naman pong ibinababa para lang may maitaas."

(I cannot consider it an achievement to grow my followers if other women are being dragged down just to lift me up,) Nagal wrote in her statement.

"hindi po ako masaya na may mga kapwa babae na bina-bash, kinukumpara, o minamaliit gamit ang pangalan ko."

"I am not happy that my fellow women are being bashed, compared, or belittled using my name."

She emphasized that a woman's dignity should never depend on her presentation, stating:

"Women do not have to fit one image to deserve respect. Hindi kailangang educational creator ka, mahinhin, conservative, o tahimik para masabing “worthy” kang respetuhin.(You do not need to be an educational creator, modest, conservative, or quiet to be considered 'worthy' of respect.)"

A Call to Change the Mindset

Addressing the broader issue of digital harassment, Nagal noted that she herself has not been spared from inappropriate remarks and objectification despite her educational content niche. She asserted that responsibility for online safety rests entirely on the behavior of viewers, not the choices of female creators.

"The way we dress is never an invitation for disrespect," Nagal said. "Hindi babae, hindi ang aming kasuotan, ang dapat pinapabago para itrato nang maayos. Ang pagiisip po ninyo sana ang ayusin."(It is not the woman, nor our clothing, that needs to change to be treated properly. I hope it is your mindset that you fix.)

Taking a strict stance against toxic followers, Nagal concluded her statement by drawing a clear boundary for her audience. She explicitly told those who engage in objectifying or divisive behavior that they are free to leave her platform.

"We don't need your support if it means objectifying women," she stated, earning widespread praise from digital safety advocates and fellow creators for fostering a healthier local internet culture.
