Personnel from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), alongside the City Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (CFARMC), immediately deployed to the site to conduct an on-site inspection and confirm the bloom.

According to CENRO Fish Examiner Orlando Leyson, contact with thimble jellyfish presents significant skin hazards.

Symptoms: Stings trigger severe skin irritation, painful red rashes, and intense itching.

Duration: The painful, irritated skin conditions can persist for several days.

Environmental Cause: Leyson explained that thimble jellyfish typically swarm when water temperatures rise, causing seasonal ocean currents to drift them closer to shorelines.

Government Directive to Public

In response to the data gathered by the assessment teams, the Lapu-Lapu City Government has strictly advised residents, visitors, swimmers, and fishers to avoid entering the water in all affected coastal zones until further notice.

Parents and guardians are likewise urged to keep children away from the shorelines where the jellyfish may aggregate. CENRO and CFARMC stated that active monitoring efforts remain underway to ensure the area is safely cleared before public activities resume.
