SOCCKSSARGEN Hits the Ground Running in Agusan del Sur with 744-Strong Fleet
Demonstrating early readiness and high morale, the 744-strong delegation from DepEd SOCCKSSARGEN (Region XII) officially arrived here on Monday, May 18, to compete in the upcoming national sports calendar.
The massive contingent—composed of student-athletes, coaches, co-coaches, and chaperons—landed safely in the host province, marking the region's official entry into the sporting event. The competition is scheduled to run from May 24 to 31.
A Diverse Field of Competitors
Region XII is fielding a robust mix of grassroots talent and seasoned student-athletes across multiple divisions. The delegation breakdown highlights a strong focus on early sports development and inclusivity:
Elementary Division: 443 participants
Secondary Division: 243 delegates
Para-Athletes: 58 competitors
Local municipal officials and residents of Rosario extended a warm welcome to the delegation upon their arrival, setting a hospitable tone for the duration of their stay.
Safe Arrival and High Spirits
Magdaleno Duhilag, the head of the Region XII contingent, expressed immense satisfaction with the smooth transition and the welcoming atmosphere of the host municipality.
“We hit the ground running here in Agusan del Sur, and the energy among the athletes and even the residents is incredible,” Duhilag stated. He further reassured parents and sports officials that the entire delegation is safe, fully accounted for, and highly motivated to compete.
Familiarization Training Underway
With the delegation now settled in their quarters, the athletes have immediately transitioned into the preparation phase. To shake off travel fatigue and adapt to the local climate, the teams are scheduled for light conditioning and familiarization training at various local sports venues.
These early sessions aim to give Region XII athletes a competitive edge as they acclimate to the playing fields ahead of the grand opening ceremonies on May 24.
