The Senate of the Philippines took a break from legislative debates on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, to formally recognize the meteoric rise of the "Nation’s Girl Group," BINI. The chamber unanimously adopted Senate Resolution No. 370, celebrating the group’s landmark achievement as the first-ever Filipino act to grace the stage of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

A Global Milestone for P-Pop

Authored and sponsored by Senator Bam Aquino, the resolution hails BINI—composed of members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Sheena, and Jhoanna—for their role in elevating Filipino artistry to the global forefront. Their performance at Coachella in April was described by the Senate as a "cultural triumph" that showcased the vibrancy of the Philippine creative economy.

“Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, isang Filipino act ang nagtanghal sa isa sa pinakamalaking music festivals sa buong mundo. Masasabi natin na ang tagumpay na ito ay isang “Salamin” ng galing at talento ng Pilipino sa pandaigdigang entablado,” Sen. Bam Aquino, stated during his speech. He specifically lauded the group for integrating Filipino heritage into their Coachella set, notably their use of the salakot and traditional motifs, which resonated with international audiences.

From Los Angeles to the Senate Plenary

The group arrived at the Senate just days after returning from Los Angeles, where they also received the Rising Star Award at the Billboard Women in Music event on May 1. During the plenary session, the members were invited to the floor to receive the framed resolution, marking a rare moment where pop culture and national policy intersected.

Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda and other senators joined the commendation, noting that the group’s discipline and "Pinoy pride" serve as an inspiration to the Filipino youth.

The "BINI Effect" on Tourism

Beyond the awards, the visit sparked discussions on the group's potential as Philippine Tourism Ambassadors. Senator Aquino voiced his strong support for this initiative, suggesting that the "BINI effect"—their ability to draw massive crowds and international social media attention—could significantly boost the country’s post-pandemic tourism recovery.

What’s Next for the Nation’s Girl Group?

The Senate recognition serves as a prelude to the group's highly anticipated 2026 Grand BINIverse World Tour, which is set to kick off in June. With sold-out dates across North America and Europe, the group is poised to continue their streak as the primary faces of the modern P-pop movement.

As the session adjourned, the group expressed their gratitude to the Filipino people, promising to continue carrying the Philippine flag wherever their music takes them.
