FAKE NEWS ALERT: Barangay LS "New Frequencies" in Southern Negros Occidental

A viral post from the Facebook page "RNTV Philippines Channel" claiming that Barangay LS has launched new frequencies on 90.1 FM and 96.9 FM in Southern Negros Occidental is officially FALSE. As of May 2026, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) list shows no RGMA/GMA stations assigned to these frequencies in the region. In reality, 90.1 FM is not an RGMA frequency, while 96.9 FM is completely absent from the local list; the closest legitimate stations are XFM Bacolod at 96.7 FM (a repeater) and 90.3 FM. The only official station serving the area remains Barangay LS 107.1 Bacolod, as verified by recent official announcements.

The misinformation stems from an unofficial page managed by individuals associated with other non-legitimate media channels, such as "Ka-Bida Channel" and "Radiant Network." The post also falsely cites a recent rebranding, yet GMA Radio actually streamlined its provincial stations under the Barangay LS brand starting as early as 2014. While Barangay RT in Cebu did transition to the "LS" moniker in April 2026, there has been no expansion or frequency change announced for Southern Negros. Residents in cities like Kabankalan should continue to rely on established local stations like Radyo Natin 103.7 and Brigada News FM 99.7 for verified news. For official updates, always check the GMA Regional TV portal or the verified Barangay LS 107.1 Facebook page.
