NCMF LAUNCHES “LUGGAGE-FREE” TRAVEL FOR 2026 FILIPINO HAJJ PILGRIMS
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) has officially introduced the “Hajj Without Luggage” system for the 2026 pilgrimage season. Developed in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU), the initiative aims to provide a seamless arrival experience for approximately 5,000 Filipino pilgrims by delivering checked baggage directly to their hotels in Madinah.
Seamless Arrival Logistics
To reduce terminal congestion and physical fatigue, pilgrims will no longer need to wait at baggage carousels upon landing.
Direct-to-Hotel Delivery: Checked bags are collected at the airport by Saudi authorities and transported directly to the pilgrims' accommodations.
Identification Protocol: Each pilgrim is issued two official luggage stickers featuring their name and mandatory MOHU data to ensure secure tracking and delivery.
Increased Budget: To support these logistical upgrades, the NCMF received an increased government appropriation of ₱84.9 million for 2026, a significant boost from the previous year’s ₱56.5 million.
Vital Instructions for Pilgrims
With the first flight contingent scheduled to depart between May 1 and May 8, 2026, the Bureau of Pilgrimage and Endowment (BPE) has issued the following directives:
Hand-Carry Necessities: As checked bags may arrive at hotels several hours after the pilgrims, all travelers must keep passports, visas, prescription medications, and a change of clothes in their hand-carry bags.
Health Security: All pilgrims must be fully vaccinated against Meningococcal and Influenza. The NCMF and BARMM Ministry of Health have already distributed 5,000 vaccine doses to ensure 100% compliance before departure.
Document Distribution: Hajj visas and luggage stickers are being released to pilgrims starting April 28, 2026.
Commitment to Excellence
NCMF officials noted that these improvements build on the success of the last two years, which saw "zero complaints" regarding pilgrim welfare. This year’s coordination with Saudi authorities marks the most advanced logistical integration in the commission's history.
