The Bureau of Customs (BOC) dealt a major blow to the trade in illegal products following a targeted law enforcement operation that confiscated approximately ₱705 million worth of counterfeit perfumes and unregulated cosmetic products. Based on a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by the Office of the Commissioner, a composite team led by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) raided two storage facilities located on Bonifacio Street in Barangay East Canumay.

The operation was the result of intensified information gathering and field verification conducted by the Office of the Commissioner in close coordination with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). During a search of the warehouses, authorities discovered a massive inventory of counterfeit products bearing the brands of world-renowned luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, Gucci, and Victoria’s Secret, along with various hair treatments and beauty products that did not have the required permits from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno stressed that the seizure is part of a broader crackdown to protect Filipino consumers from potential health risks posed by toxic chemicals often found in counterfeit cosmetics. The BOC has since locked down the facilities, and the owners are now facing multiple charges for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863) and the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293).
