Governor Henry S. Oaminal today led the historic inauguration and blessing of the Asenso Misamis Occidental Recreation and Adventure Park (AMORAP), a flagship ₱1.3 billion tourism development. The event, held on April 21, 2026, was marked by a prestigious gathering of provincial officials, municipal mayors, and the 50 official delegates of Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2026.
A Milestone for Philippine Tourism
Strategically located in Barangay Libertad Bajo, the 49-hectare coastal resort—dubbed the "Maldives of Mindanao"—represents a major stride in Governor Oaminal’s "Asenso" governance, aimed at making the province safer, fairer, and more prosperous. The park’s inauguration coincides with its debut as a primary host venue for the MUPH 2026 preliminary activities, which will run from April 21 to 26, 2026.
World-Class Amenities and Attractions
AMORAP is designed to be a premier leisure and eco-tourism hub, featuring Maldives-inspired inland and ocean villas. Key facilities showcased during the blessing include:
Accommodations & Events: Luxury inland villas with jacuzzis, mangrove villas, a four-story hotel, and a dedicated convention center.
Leisure & Recreation: A 9-hole golf course, driving range, commercial center, diving school, and sports courts.
Eco-Tourism: A bird sanctuary, nature trails, and aquaculture zones integrated with marine conservation efforts.
Dining: A "Restaurant by the Sea" and a mid-point rest café for visitors.
Global Spotlight on Misamis Occidental
The presence of the 50 MUPH delegates underscores the province’s readiness to host large-scale, international-caliber events. According to official provincial reports, these delegates will utilize AMORAP and other landmarks like the Asenso Global Gardens for official content filming and the highly anticipated swimsuit competition.
Governor Oaminal emphasized that AMORAP is more than a resort; it is a catalyst for economic growth, expected to generate local employment and reinforce Misamis Occidental's position as a central tourism hub in Northern Mindanao.
