Iranian Missile Barrage Hits Qatar: Doha Rocked by Overnight Strikes
A series of Iranian missile attacks targeted Qatar late Tuesday(April 7) and early Wednesday(April 8), forcing the nation into a state of emergency as air defenses intercepted projectiles over the capital.
The escalation began shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A national security alert sounded across Doha, notably interrupting a live Al Jazeera broadcast as sirens and mobile emergency notifications warned residents to seek immediate cover. This initial strike marked the first direct attack on the country in two weeks.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted a missile at approximately 10:54 p.m. However, the respite was brief. A second national alert was triggered around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday as a second wave of attacks approached the city.
While many projectiles were neutralized, the Ministry of Interior reported that falling debris from an intercepted missile struck a residential building in the Muraikh area. The impact injured four people, including a child, and caused significant structural damage.
These strikes are part of a broader regional escalation in the ongoing 2026 conflict, with Iran reportedly launching simultaneous barrages against neighboring Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Qatari authorities remain on high alert, urging citizens to stay indoors and follow official safety protocols as the situation develops.
